DR. BANU YILMAZ

Professional Career;

Dr. Banu Yilmaz, after 24 years of work experience in different sectors such as Roche Pharmaceuticals Company, Honda, Turkey, Kanal D Television Channel and TTNet, has established her own “Sustainability and Communication counseling” company Markamentor in 2017. With its “Sustainability and Brand Consultancy” company “Markamentor”, she continues to provide services to corporate companies on the subjects of social responsibility, sustainability project consultancy, and brand development, advertising, media and press communication. In the field of brand management, she provides services with a holistic service approach, from the development of the strategic planning to the implementation of the strategies.

In our lives where the need to protect the economic, social and environmental assets of the world is increasing day by day, she works for the creation and development of corporate sustainability strategies. She works as a consultant for the organizations to develop sustainability projects, especially with the modeling she developed. Within this modeling, the method suggestions are also presented on how the employees of the institution can be effectively involved in the economic, social and environmental sustainability studies of the institution. In this new era, where more and more individual and corporate goals are being questioned, she provides consultancy for the discovery and implementation of corporate and individual existence goals in the business world.

Education:

Dr. Banu Yılmaz, completed two separate master’s programs in two separate fields, finance and advertising – public relations, after graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration in 1989. Later, she specialized in “Contemporary Business Management”, after fulfilling the “Contemporary Business Management” education, which is a 4-year joint training program of Main University in America and Marmara University Research and Application Center.

She completed her Master’s Thesis, in which the formation processes of Global Brands were analyzed in depth, in the field of  ‘Advertising and Public Relations’. Within the scope of her master’s degree in finance, which she completed at Marmara University, she researched the financial effects of realizing production with the “Companies Profitability Centers” approach.

She completed her doctorate study, which is investigated the effects and their co-creation projects of Private Sector Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations on the “Sustainable Development Goals”, in the Communication Department of Istanbul Bilgi University.

In her research conducted with 13 Private Sector Organizations and 10 Non-Governmental Organizations, she examined how private sector companies can develop successful collaborations with non-governmental organizations within the scope of sustainability areas. Beside, the reasons for the employees of the institutions to take part in the sustainability activities of the institutions and the contributions of the employees to themselves and their institutions were examined. As a result of these researches, a new model was developed on “Purpose-Oriented Sustainability Approach”. She still provides consultancy and training services on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability.

Dr. Banu Yılmaz, who is entitled to receive the research award within the scope of “Importance of Foreign Capital in the World and Turkey” by the Foreign Capital Association YASED, has also the experiences on the subjects of “Profitability Centers” and “Brand Development Processes”.Within the scope of the “Creativity Awards” organized by Doğan Yayın Holding, she took active roles in the “Best Public Relations and Communication” project given on behalf of Kanal D in 2007 and 2010.

Awards:

-Banu Yılmaz, who was awarded the research award on ‘Importance of Foreign Capital on the World and in Turkey’ by Foreign Capital Association YASED in 1989 also conducted extensive research and practice studies on ‘Profitability Centers’ and ‘Branding Processes’.

-In scope of the “Creativity Awards” organized by Doğan Yayın Holding in January 2007, she assumed an active role in ‘Best PR and Communications Project’ awarded to Kanal D.

-In scope of the award event organized by Doğan Holding in 2010, she was involved in the team to which ‘Most Efficient PR and Communications Award Project’ was presented for ‘Kanal D Orchestrate’, the commercial film prepared for Kanal D.

-In 2010, she was given ‘Red’ award with her ‘Hanımın Çiftliği’ TV series cover of Kanal D under the category of Hürriyet Newspaper -Red Awards- “Label Insert Cover Work”. This commercial is the result of shared work between Rafineri Advertising Agency and Kanal D Corporate Communications Management.

-Yılmaz, who started to work in TTNET in 2010, took part in the management of Corporate Communications of the brand TTNET in the meantime. During this period, TTNET brand was awarded two Golden Compass Awards with the projects ‘Give InterNET to Your Future with TTNET’ and ‘TTNET Turkish Football Teams Main Sponsorship’ in the Golden Compass Award Ceremony organized by THID (Turkey Public Relations Association) (May-2011).
